Ms. S.S., who lacked the financial means to bring her case before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), sought assistance from the Rights Centre upon the recommendation of the Advocates’ Chamber.
She complained the lack of an effective investigation into the death of her son, which ultimately led to the termination of the prosecution against the perpetrators due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
Rights Centre has lodged a complaint with the ECtHR, arguing a violation of the right to life (procedural limb), citing the authorities’ failure to conduct a thorough and timely investigation into the case.
The case has been registered and now awaits review by the ECtHR.
