Training on Human Rights International Mechanisms

From February 7-9, 2025 the Rights Centre organized a training on human rights international mechanisms with the financial support of the European Union as a sub-grant project of the Monitoring Justice Sector Reforms in Armenia” project (www.juremonia.am). The training aimed to familiarize representatives of civil society organizations with human rights protection mechanisms under the United Nations (UN), Council of Europe (CoE), and European Union (EU), as well as opportunities for civil society engagement in these processes. During the training, Anna Maralyan, President of Rights Centre NGO, provided an overview of international human rights protection mechanisms, focusing on the CoE system and the procedures for submitting individual complaints to UN bodies. Additionally, international law experts Tatevik Gharibyan and Narine Solomonyan covered key topics, including:
  • The functioning of UN treaty bodies,
  • The Universal Periodic Review process,
  • The role of UN special rapporteurs,
  • EU-Armenia cooperation in the field of human rights (CEPA), and other related issues.
The training provided practical knowledge and insights to strengthen civil society’s role in advocating for human rights at the international level.
