From June 29 to July 1, 2024 Rights Centre conducted a training on INTERPOL for regional attorneys. The training was conducted by Mr. Gregory Tuan Di Diedonne, Mr. Alexander Ovchinnikov from Strasbourg, and Mr. Ara Ghazaryan from Armenia. Both Mr. Diedonne and Mr. Ovchinnikov are members of the Strasbourg Council of Attorneys. They also worked for the European Court of Human Rights. Mr. Ghazaryan was involved as an expert in the proceedings in the USA and in European countries, and has managed many extradition cases.
The training featured a comprehensive agenda aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of INTERPOL’s operations. The training included presentations on the historical context and objectives of INTERPOL, on the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) and extradition procedures, including practical sessions to apply the knowledge gained. The final day emphasized effective collaboration with the CCF from a legal perspective. Legal practitioners were equipped with the necessary tools to navigate INTERPOL’s framework while considering human rights implications.
